Masha du Toit

Masha du Toit writes fantasy and science fiction, set in alternate world South Africa. They trained as a visual artist, majoring in sculpture and went on to study bronze casting. After many years teaching the creative use of digital technology, they finally focused on their true passion: writing their own stories.

They're inspired by all kinds of magic, from the worlds of Hayao Miyazaki, Ursula Le Guin and CJ Cherryh, to those of James Herriot and Gerald Durrell.

Recently published books include “We Broke the Moon”, “The Babylon Eye” and “Ray and the Cat Thing”. Two of their books have been shortlisted for the Nommo awards for “Best fiction by an African writer”.
